Description

Worth knowing

  • Founded in 1785, Champagne Heidsieck & Co Monopole is one of the oldest champagne houses in the world. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was especially appreciated by the European royal houses as well as the Russian tsar's house. In 1916, 3,000 bottles were shipped to St. Petersburg to the Russian ruling house. The cargo never arrived, together with cognac and Burgundy barrels, because it was sunk by a German submarine. Only in July 1998 2400 bottles of Heidsieck & Co Monopole vintage 1907 could be salvaged. Today the champagne house Heidsieck & Co Monopole is one of the most successful champagne brands in Europe
Sensory description
  • Bright yellow with light green reflexes, clear perlage with many elegant pearl necklaces
  • The Blue Top is a champagne characterized by the fruit. It smells of tropical fruits like mango and pineapple
  • A fruity-sweet prelude introduces the taste sensation. This is followed by a good structure and a firm body, interwoven with fruity aromas of pineapple, passion fruit, orange, peach, apple, pear and a colourful multi-fruit mix

  • The combination of Blue Top Champagne and fruit salads tastes great. But it also goes well with fish curries or fried chicken with mandarins
